The Fabric of Our Village

To celebrate the coronation of King Charles, we’d like to cordially invite you to take part in our community bunting competition!
We’re asking the people of Ditchling (and beyond) to design their own flag for our bunting, which will be displayed in our pub on the run-up to the coronation bank holiday weekend.
Anybody and everybody can get involved, no matter their age, talent or experience – but what a great project for children! We hope everyone will hop on the band wagon and join in, because it will be so wonderful to step back and see the story of our village told through the community bunting.

Be a Part of Something Beautiful

Pick up your fabric triangle from behind the bar, or choose your own, alternatively you could reuse an item of clothing that means something to you.
It can be elaborately embroidered, covered in beads, glitter, simply sewn, or completely coloured with love!

Great British Bunt Off

There are spares, scissors and pretty bits on our bar, so you can join in whilst you have a pint, if you like.
We’ll sew it onto the main bunting and showcase it – in ALL it’s patchwork glory – so that everybody can feel proud to be a part of the vibrant fabric of our community.

Our favourite flag will win a DINNER FOR TWO at our lovely pub too, so there is even more reason to join in!

Together we can create something collaborative and colourful to mark the momentous occasion – won’t that be special?

What’s On in Ditchling

In addition to the community bunting, we’ll be celebrating the King’s Coronation all bank holiday weekend with royal themed colouring, plenty of chilled Champagne, scones with cream & jam, seasonal special dishes, and a down right regal atmosphere to boot.

Also, you can enjoy a game of Spin the Wheel for a chance to win prizes from local businesses, our star prize – A TWO NIGHT STAY IN A YOUNG’S ROOM OF YOUR CHOICE  – and there might be a booby prize or two along the way as well.

In addition to being jolly good fun, we’ll be using the money to fundraise for St Margaret’s Primary School who are hoping to landscape their frontage.

The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla will take place at Westminster Abbey London, as part of international celebrations across the Commonwealth for the new king, and you are cordially invited to come join us in the bar to watch all the royal action on our TV screens!
